3Foxes had a fun afternoon to celebrate filling their class merit chart. They spent the afternoon having a teddy bears picnic with an ice lolly. Well done 3Foxes for all your hard work achieving the class merits this year!
Year 3 had an excellent morning taking part in a variety of games and challenges set up by the Ralph Thoresby Sports Leaders. They all showed excellent teamwork, determination and confidence in everything asked of them. They had a smile on their face throughout and were excellent representatives for Ireland Wood. Well done year 3!
Learning Objective: To act out a scene using intonation Year 3 spent the morning memorising and acting out a scene from our new class book UG. They learnt their lines, used expression in their voices and created actions to show what was happening in the comic strip. They all did an excellent job and have improved massively on their acting skills since they started in year 3.
Year 3 had an excellent day visiting Herd Farm. They looked at how people lived during the Stone, Bronze and Iron Age including building houses, throwing spears, making tools and starting fires. They then had a creative morning/afternoon using clay to make their own Stone Age jewellery.
We have been working really hard on a re-telling of our class text, Stone Age Boy. Some of it we wrote together as a class, some of it we wrote in pairs and some of it we wrote on our own. We tries really hard to make our writing descriptive and dramatic, especially during the bear scene! We then worked collaboratively together to create a shadow puppet show, using our combined stories!
Year 3 have been working hard throughout the term on their balancing and working with a partner to achieve harder balances. This week we worked on partner balances on the floor and on benches. Well done year 3 you have shown excellent progress so far!
Year 3 spent the morning looking at the pictures in our new class book Stone Age Boy. We predicted what we thought might be happening and what the main characters might be saying to each other. We then acted them out and created freeze frames for each scene in the book.
