Topic - Geography

Our Spring topic is "I do like to be beside the Seaside!". The children will learn how to explore a world and UK map, globe and atlas. They will be able to use directional language to find the features on a map. They will also use aerial photographs to recognise human and physical features. In additiom they will take part in fieldwork lessons to observe features of the school grounds.

 

Maths

During our maths lessons, we will focus on addition and subtraction and place value. The children will also learn about measurement.

 

Art and Design

This term we will introduce the children will continue to use their sketch books and explore watercolour and how we can use accidental marks to help us make art.

 

During our Art lessons, we will study the famous artists: Paul Klee and Emma Burleigh.

 

Design and Technology

In our topic, we will cut out simple shapes and decorate them using different joining methods. The children will also join two pieces with a simple running stitch.

 

 

PSHE

This term, children will learn about: our emotions and how we and other react to them and our physical health and well being.

 

Science

During our Science lessons we will be learning about Animals including Humans. The children will learn the names of different animals and how to classify them. They will learn how to describe them and what they eat.

We will use world maps, atlases and globes to name, locate and identify the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. We will also use aerial photographs and plan perspectives to recognise landmarks and physical features.

Immersive Day - I do like to be by the seaside!

Today we discovered treasure left by pirates. We had a great time making treasure maps, pirate puppets and used our eye patches and pretended to be pirates.

English

What is in your bucket? After listening to a story the children thought about what animals they might find in their bucket.

Science

In science this week we learnt about the diets of different animals. We explored their poo to find out what they eat!

Maths - Subtraction

Today the children looked at how they could find the answer to different subtraction number sentences.

Art

In art we have been working on exploring watercolour paints. We have learnt how to create different marks and effects by using a range of paintbrushes and amount of water added. The children loved creating their final pieces which were pictures of the seaside and added details after with pencil.

Mother's Day

The children created beautiful cards to take home today.

Science Week - What's your question?

How do rockets launch? How far can they travel? Today the children made and launched rockets. They had a fabulous time!

English

Today the children picked animals to swim in the ocean in preparation for an English lesson. They all used adjectives to describe the animals.

Science - What do animals eat?

Do all animals eat the same food? Today we looked at animal poo to find the answer!

World Book Day

For World Book Day the children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters. They drew their characters and wrote why they chose them, completed word searches and created their own versions of their favourite book covers. They also LOVED playing in the role of their book characters - so much amazing imaginative play!

Fish Puppets & Sewing

Today the children worked super hard to create fish puppets. They, mostly, used a running stitch.
