English
This term in English we will be writing pieces based on our History topic 'Anglo-Saxons and Vikings'. Within in this, we will be writing a playscript based on Beowolf, a recount of the Battle of Hastings, a fictional piece based on a Viking myth 'Apples of Iduna' and a piece of poetry.

Maths
This term in Maths we will be covering Perimeter and Area, Stastics, Shape, Position and Direction, Negative Numbers, Conversion and we will also return to Decimals for part of our learning also.

Topic
Our Summer topic is 'Anglo-Saxons and Vikings'. In this topic, we will be covering many aspects of their history from invasions to every day life, Gods/Goddesses to Women and Children and Religion and Laws.

Art
In Art this term, we will be designing and then making a set design. We will be taking inspiration from specific artists along the way.

Design Technology
For our DT project we will be creating Viking longships that have moveable sails that the children will be able to roll up and down. To do this we will be researching, desiging, creating and then evaluating our work.

PE
Summer 1 PE lessons are:
- Gymnastics
- Tennis
Summer 2 PE lessons are:
- Athletics
- Rounders

Immersive Learning Day 2026

This week, we had our Immersive Learning Day on our new topic Saxons and Vikings. In this day, we completed many exciting tasks including: shield making, broach creation, solving Saxon riddles, performing a Viking saga (story) and longship artwork. It was a fun filled day!

Music!

This term's music topic is Looping and Mixing. Over the term, we will begin to create music with technology and using the skills of looping and mixing to do so. This week, we began with creating some music as a class using body percussion. We then had different conductors come to the front to instruct us in our performance.

Chess tournament

Over the next term, we will completing a chess tournament in Year 5. The children will play chess games against each other and work their way up the leader board. Eventually, we will end up with a gold, silver and bronze medallists. We started our heats this week!
