Now that Mrs Fisher has left 3F to go on maternity leave, we have been joined by Mrs Paul who is very excited to be working with 3F.
This term, Year 3 will be learning how to use inverted commas for direct speech and enhancing our writing with powerful adverbs. We will be reading The Green Ship, by Quentin Blake and The Storm, by Alan Marks. We use drama and Talk for Writing techniques to edit and improve our written work.
In maths, our focus will be on multiplication and division, money and measures and we will be using practical equipment to reinforce children's learning.
Our Science topic has moved from Forces and Magnets onto Animals, including humans, and we will be working scientifically investigating nutritional needs.
Our topic is "Why do people holiday in the Mediterranean?". This includes creating art work, researching facts, looking at maps and the surrounding European countries, and preparing and sampling some local foods.
After the half term break, our English focus will change to non-chronological texts where we will explore non-fiction in greater detail.
Maths will progress from measurement and statistics to fractions.
Our topic will change to "Would I have liked to have been an Ancient Egyptian?" and we will be going on an educational visit to the Leeds City Museum to explore the exhibit there. We may need some parent volunteers! A letter will follow soon.
